Default Factions Vs. Nightfall

I'm sort of in a dillema where I cannot choose between Factions and Nightfall. I wanted to know your opinions on which I should buy. Of course I will be buying both eventually, I just need the most neccassary one for now. (I do have Prophecies.)

Post your opinions.

Nightfall. That's nearly objective.

One reason; HEROES.

Get Nightfall. People can argue about which is the better game (I prefer Nightfall) but its the only game you can get heroes from. They help a lot since some of the missions have hardly any people in them no matter which game you're playing.

I'd have to say.. the most important one you'd want to buy is Nightfall since it has more features to take advantage of, IE: Heros, inscribable armors, and some pretty nice skills etc.. Factions does have nice armor and some pretty good skills, but I guess it's not all that important. Now if it was me who had to choose from one of them I'd pick factions, because i really despise nightfall.

I prefer Factions because I think its a better all around game. Love the environment and everything about it ever since we got to do tha beta thing. Just love Factions but thats me. Most people will say NF because of heros which is a good idea because heros are very helpful but we did play at a time with no heros. If you like pvp then get Factions so you can do alliance battles. You cant alliance battle with NF so choose wisely.

In the End i say Factions!

^What he said.

The only reason I liked NF were:

Heroes.
New Skills.

Theres just too much sand. And I find its longer than Prophm since ther aren't many runners.

Factions, because it's fast and fun.

NF is too long and tedious -.-

Both have their pros and cons.

Factions = better skill balance, better looking armors imo, if youre a casual player its a little shorter if you dont have the time, more pvp options with aliance battles, better elite areas

Nightfall = heros (love these guys), longer storyline, better storyline, inscribable armors and weapons, better scenery (no ghetto), more pve focused

Nightfall. There's no use to playing PvE if you find it too long and tedious. The objective isn't to finish the game, it's to have fun doing so

If you plan to play a necro then ya might wanna get Nightfall so you have access to the one(although lame) e-management skill.

That's a tough call.

Factions offers faster levelling, quicker gold gain, more affordable armor options, the Ritualist and Assassin professions, faster paced PvE, a lot of PvP gamestyles, plus better music.

Nightfall offers Heroes, a richer PvE storyline, better cinematics, inscribable items and armor, and the Dervish and Paragon professions.

Having played through all three, I find myself enjoying Factions the most these days. However, that is with heroes... I don't think I'd feel the same way if I were dependent upon pick up groups or henchmen. In Factions, a lot of the higher level PvE areas can be fairly empty; but if one is in a helpful guild, that isn't such a big issue. Before heroes, I remember having to wait several days or more to find a group for certain missions.

Nightfall is great; yet having completed it with one character, it just doesn't draw me into playing through the missions and quest areas much with my other characters. The only reason I do is to unlock heroes. And one has to play through a considerable part of Nightfall to unlock the cooler heroes.

If storyline consistency is an issue, play through Factions first and then Nightfall. If it's not, I'd recommend playing Nightfall first, and then after the game is complete and all heroes are unlocked, like General Morgahn and Razah the Ritualist, then play Factions. The PvE will be more fun with all the heroes unlocked, and you can move into the more interesting PvP from there.

Edit: It's kind of interesting how the Ritualist hero Razah is unlocked after one completes the Nightfall campaign. It makes one wonder, "well what do I use him for, since the game is over now?" I think it's to encourage those who haven't played Factions to pick it up, since all of Razah's good skills are unlocked in Factions. Plus one doesn't get to unlock Zenmai the Assassin without Factions. Fwiw, it's pretty cool to play through Factions with a Rit and Assassin hero along. And the storyline consistency issue isn't really that big of a deal with regards to Nightfall and Factions, ie. they could plausibly be played out of order and things still make sense. It's more of an issue with Nightfall and Prophecies, regarding the five Gods and Abaddon.

I had the most fun with NF out of any of the campaigns. Probably because (unlike the other campaigns) I got it as soon as it was released, and everybody else was just starting at the same time as me. I liked the story in NF the most because it stays focused around one central enemy instead of having you switch enemies 5 different times throughout the course of the game, and most of the missions were genuinely fun (except poghan passage but they fixed that later). I also like how NF gave you alot of backstory on the events of prophecies and factions (mostly in sidequests though).

Really it's just a preference thing, generally though Factions for PvP and NF for PvE.

Let's see...

Factions - pros:

-Spoil Victor
-Rit is kind of cool

cons:

-Exploding monsters
-AB's full of leavers
-Tons of new useless skills to use
-Restricted access to Elite missions
-Abandoned outposts and missions

Nightfall - pros:

-Fun
-Steadily increasing difficulty
-Good storyline
-Heroes
-Searing Flames
-Dervishes!!!!!!
-Unlocked treasure chests!!!

cons:

-Insanely difficult high-end PvE (requires real people and teamwork)
-Ummm...

Horribly long, drawn out and tedious.
Sunspear point grind.
Horrible slow levelling, though not as bad as prophecies.
